Excerpt from the Central Methodist University website.
“The new Thogmorton Center for Allied Health on the Fayette campus of Central Methodist University will be dedicated on Saturday, Oct. 3. It is the first academic building added to the campus in more than 50 years. The dedication will begin at 11 a.m., and all are invited to come. There is no fee involved.
Among the speakers at the dedication will be Dr. Roger Drake, president of Central Methodist University, Jay Jacobs who financially supported and named the building, and Jim and Helen Thogmorton’s daughters, Louann Thogmorton Shaner from Chicago and Hilton Head, S.C., and Cathy Thogmorton from Fayette.
The building will house Central’s nursing program, physical therapy assistant program, and occupational therapy assistant program. The $6.5 million building is the first stage of the three-part Campaign for the Heart of Central. It was announced in the summer of 2014 and built during the school year and this summer. Classes began in the new center at the beginning of school this fall.
The new Thogmorton Center for Allied Health began holding classes on the first day of Central Methodist University’s fall semester. On the day of dedication, the building will be alive, not just with visitors, but also with nursing and other demonstrations by current students and faculty. Tours will be available after the dedication.”
