The Technological Library is a 22,000 sq. ft. addition to Eckilson-Mabee Theatre that addresses the growth in enrollment at Missouri Valley College as well as changes in technology. This highly visible two-story technical library and classroom addition to the 1979 building furthers the college’s goal of staying ahead of the cutting edge in both education and technology.
The technological library is located on the Northside of the ground floor to take advantage of the diffuse Northern light. A 65-seat computer lab fills the west expansion and the second floor houses six new classrooms. All classrooms are set up for computer use by educators and students. Two classrooms are set up for the latest in technology, including provisions for 20 workstations, a surround sound system, overhead video projection, instructor control station, and fiber optic cabling for efficient data transfer.
Missouri Valley College requested that the new addition shield the existing auditorium from the quadrangle and the college street. In response, the architects placed the building in an L-shape along the west and north sides. The resulting structure is the key building at the college street entrance to the campus.
