The Columbia Public Schools‘ Early Childhood Learning Center is a 54,000 sq. ft. multistory new building in northern Columbia on the property of Lange Middle School, 2201 Smiley Lane. The school will be home to a Title I preschool, an early childhood learning center for special education students with high needs and the Parents as Teachers office. The school is expected to accommodate 400 students.

The center will have 17 classrooms: 10 for the preschool and the remaining for the early childhood special education classes. Spaces will be designated for physical and occupational therapy, educational and health screenings and speech therapy. The plan also includes a playground. Classes will begin at the center in the fall of 2017.
